3 Causes of Software Testing Failure

All software testers are aware that one shouldn’t start web site testing, desktop testing or mobile testing without proper preparatory works.

But, unfortunately, preparation is often done too fast and negligently, without paying attention to important facts. This way some testers and project managers try to save time and increase efficiency of the testing works.

As a rule, the results turn to be quite the opposite. If the necessary researches and studies of the product, its users and environment, in which it is supposed to be utilized, are not performed, the manual and automated testing may appear to be useless.

Frequent Causes of a Testing Process Inefficiency:

  1. Testers may focus on the wrong aspects of the product and miss the important ones.
  2. The testing works are executed on an improper platform.
  3. Testing of the software product in the wrong environment. For example, executing functional testing of an application, which is supposed to work without the Internet, on a web-connected device.

These problems appear only if the necessary researches have not been done, or if they were performed carelessly. That is why a professional software testing company always wants its testers to study the project, its peculiarities and potential users of the software under test. The results of the research must be considered in the test plan and the test procedure.
