Testing seems interesting and easy to a lot of people, so they look for a job in a software testing company. Sometimes some people decide to change their specialization and become software testers. Very often such people find it difficult to start, especially when their previous work wasn’t connected with IT.

But one shouldn’t worry. A lot of companies, IBM, for example, do not mind hiring candidates with education and work experience in non-IT field. Anyone can be taught.

As a rule, career in software testing starts with manual testing.

People with education and experience in other spheres than IT can take advantage of their knowledge. Imagine that you worked in a call center as a consultant. So you surely know the most frequent questions that rise in the field you worked, you know the way people think. You can use this knowledge while performing mobile application testing, desktop testing or web site testing if the systems relate to your previous specification.

Proficiency in some domains is frequently required for thorough testing as a lot of applications for those spheres appear. Accounting and e-commerce are among them.

Whatever one knows is an advantage. If a person is really interested in software testing, with time he or she will learn how to perform it fast and fruitful.
