What is Specificity of Smoke Testing?

Nowadays software testing is an integral part of any development process. It is a complex activity consisting of many different testing types.

They focus on various parts and aspects of the application, are more or less detailed. But the ultimate goal of all of them is release of a high-quality, competitive product using the least possible resources.

Smoke testing is included in every mobile testing, desktop testing and web site testing. It is among the testing activities that are applied to the system in the first place.

It derives from testing of engines and other hardware devices. The testing was as follows: the device was turned on for the first time, if there was no smoke or fire, the device was considered to be good enough for further finishing. The same approach is used to software products during smoke testing nowadays.
