Currently there are a lot of applications of different complexity, serving different purposes. Due to this variety many automated testing instruments appeared on the market. It is often hard to choose the right ones among this abundance.

Before acquiring test tools a software testing company recommends to determine how many of them is needed for the project.

It is common knowledge that currently none testing instrument is suitable for every mobile testing, desktop testing or web site testing. Nevertheless software industry is in progress and test tools coverage of applications is extending.

Nowadays in many cases one instrument may be sufficient for one testing type.

To Determine How Many Test Tools Are Required for a Project One Should Consider the Next Aspects:

• testing process phase;
• types of testing that will be performed, for instance, load testing, usability testing, functional testing[1], GUI testing and so on;
