What Title Should Bug Report Have?

Experienced testers know that the most significant elements of any mobile, desktop or web site testing are bug reports. They demonstrate results of testers’ work. So, every software tester must write bug reports properly.

A Bug Report Usually Consists Of:

• title;
• description;
• steps to reproduce;
• expected and actual result;
• attachments in the form of screenshots or short videos;
• other attributes of the defect[1] such as severity, priority.

Each item of a bug report is significant and must be written in a proper manner. A software testing company would confirm that title is of great importance for a bug report. It must be clear, laconic and formulate the main idea of the error.

Title of a Bug Report Must:

• Give distinct comprehension of the reported defect allowing software engineers to evaluate its priority and get to know what the problem is.
• Appeal to the developers to fix the error as soon as possible. A bug report has little in common with an advertisement but, as well as headline of an advertising text, title of a bug report should attract attention of software engineers and inform that the reported error is significant.
• Contain no errors in the text as such things do not inspire to trust the author of the text.

So, executing software testing one should not forget about requirements to titles of bug reports.
