Why Mobile Web Software Fails?

Mobile devices have quickly evolved from simple means of communication to smart complex multifunctional machines. Today each smartphone and tablet easily connects to Internet.

Due to development of mobile technology plenty of web software products for mobile devices have appeared.

Many people got used to working with web applications both on personal computers and mobile devices. They notice that there are more problems with mobile web software than with desktop web applications.

Those, who are involved in software development or perform mobile testing, desktop testing or web site testing, know that web technology is implemented very differently for mobile and desktop devices.

The main reason of the difference between mobile and web applications is specificity of mobile devices and their usage.

Initially web programs were designed for personal computers. They assume interaction by means of keyboard and mouse. Traditional web software products often use keyboard hotkeys, various menus that are called by mouse clicking. Users work with software products completely differently on smartphones and tablets.

Common Web Applications Are not Tailored For:

• a touchscreen, interaction by means of tapping;
• interaction by means of gestures;
• utilization of location sensors.

A software testing company reminds its testers that it is important to consider these peculiarities in course of manual and automated testing of a mobile software product. Mobile application testing often shows that modern mobile web software is poorly adjusted for specificity of mobile technology.
