- 3 Popular Types of Mobile Applications
Information technology has become complex and sophisticated. One should spend years in order to study its processes and principles of work. At the same time a child can take tablet or a smartphone and began to interact with a program or play a game relying just on instincts and intuition.
Software developers and specialists in web site testing, desktop testing and mobile application testing direct their efforts on simplifying understanding and working with software products along with providing rich user experience and diverse functionality.
Now there are many types of programs and their hybrids. Results of manual and automated testing demonstrate that all of them have different strengths and weaknesses.
Mobile Software Products Can:
- Be elaborated for a certain operating system. They are called native programs and use all the features and functions of the operating system and devices on which the operating system is installed. Performance testing proves that such software works faster than web applications as it is adjusted for the platforms and the environment. But such programs are not supported by other operating systems.
- Be web based. Such systems are supported by several popular operating systems. Unfortunately, they are not so adapted for any operation system and do not use their specific functions. It is wise to perform compatibility testing of an application of that type and make sure that it operates well on widely used platforms. They also perform slower than native programs.
- Utilize hybrid technology in order to take advantage of strengths both native and web software products. These are web applications using APIs what allows them to utilize built-in features of different platforms. Software of this kind provides rich user experience, but it operates not very fast.
