How to Join Testing When it’s Already Began?
Sometimes a tester joins a project when mobile application testing, desktop testing or web site testing has already begun.
In this case the new member should quickly integrate in the project, learn the project specificity and become an active participant of manual or automated testing.
In Order to Familiarize Oneself With the Project Before Proceeding to Testing One Should:
- study and understand the software product requirements;
- determine the main components of the tested application;
- learn peculiarities of the software testing process;
- consult with more experienced colleagues, the project manager;
- learn the project business rules;
- discuss with the colleagues, project manager, programmers his or her understanding of the project, ask if something is unclear.
When a new member knows and understands the project peculiarities, he or she may proceed to testing. It is recommended to begin with functional testing; one may also execute some tasks of user interface testing.
It is a good practice to discuss all the tasks before executing them and the achieved results at the end of every working day with the project manager.
One should be attentive and detail-oriented. Such a test engineer will be useful in any project and quickly earn respect of other team members.
