Mobile application testing, desktop testing and web site testing require certain environment. Test environment has a massive impact on tests results. If the necessary environment conditions are not created, the tests results will be useless.
That is why a test plan should describe in details the test environment needed for each testing type.
It is also necessary to indicate what specialists are involved in the software testing and their responsibilities.
The main activities described in the test plan are: elaborating of the test strategy, plan and test cases; tests execution, automation; errors fixing; managing of various processes and so on. The test plan shows what person is appointed to each activity. This information is useful for communication and management purposes.
Software testing depends on the project schedule as well. The schedule allows all the project members to coordinate and plan their activities. That is why it should be written in the test plan.
