What Should be Known About Load Testing?

Testers with many years of experience in the software product testing know that load testing is divided into two subspecies – endurance testing and volume testing. Both subspecies vary by their duration and the load level.

Volume testing[1] is more short-term and applies a more serious load, while the endurance testing distributes the load more evenly but thereby the time of its execution increases in direct ratio.

Despite this quite significant difference the main idea remains the same – to check the system for bottlenecks, to understand what kind of load the software can withstand and under what conditions, and to assess the overall coefficient of system’s performance.
