5 Ways to Prepare the File Server to High Load

It is a good sign for a company when its servers become so busy that they hang and crash. It usually means that the company’s products are very popular.
Load testing[1] provided by a reliable software testing company is the best way to prepare the servers for these situations. Such a company can also conduct website testing[2], desktop testing, mobile testing[3] and software testing to further improve the product quality. As to the server load, there are several tips on how to plan the heavy load and improve the performance of file servers.
How to Wisely Prepare Servers to High Load?
- If certain events repeatedly occur on the servers, it is reasonable to apply caching. Of course, caching is appropriate only for stable things that rarely change.
- Each server has limited amount of memory. During the peak load periods, it can use swap storages that work slowly. This situation can be prevented by setting the memory limits manually.
- Server load can be reduced with the help of content delivery networks that duplicate the content and distribute it to multiple servers.
- Google Apache module comprises a bunch of tools for managing the server performance. All tools can be enabled/disabled according to the company’s needs. This module provides a rational way to plan the heavy load.
- Load testing is indispensable. Proper emulation of high load cannot be omitted during the server preparation process.
Proper planning of high load will make the company’s servers work smoothly and reliably at any load.
