MWC2025: It’s All About Connectivity and Connections

“Converge. Connect. Create.” Mobile World Congress (MWC) Barcelona 2025, the world’s largest and most influential connectivity event, has just wrapped up its most ambitious edition yet. With over 109,000 attendees, innovation was at the forefront. 5G networks, AI integration, and IoT are just a tiny bit of the variety of topics discussed between March 3 and March 6.

At first, we wondered – would 3 people be able to handle more than 2,900 exhibitors and over 109,000 attendees? But Anton Yefimenko, Mobile Program Director, Pavlina Svarychevska, Product Growth Advisor, and Tetiana Avramova, Key Accounts Manager, know how to cut through the noise and spot the most valuable insights.

With their impressions still fresh, we sat down to discuss the event and all the findings they think will influence the future of mobile testing.

Here’s what they had to say:

Which mobile trends would you call the hottest, judging by the event?

Pavlina: Definitely AI. Mobile tech actively adopts AI on different levels to optimize productivity, personalization, and automation.

Tetiana: Oh, AI was hot! Even the slightest mention sparked a light in people’s eyes. I was also surprised by the huge presence of the hardware and robotics products, some of which I wouldn’t believe existed if I hadn’t seen them with my own eyes.

Which companies or startups stole the show for you?

Pavlina: Some really cool tech startups showcased their products at the event. For example, Alivion presented a device that measures oxytocin levels through breath, thereby analyzing metabolism. The comprehensive data it gathers allows users to adjust their diet according to their goals. I think it’s a massive step for health tech. Another product I really liked was audEERING’s speech analytics tool focused on emotion recognition. I see many opportunities for implementation, including VR games, where it will allow for more lifelike NPC interactions.

Anton: There were many forward-thinking companies presenting tools that will be useful for our operations. I especially liked a platform that automatically generates bug reports through AI-powered algorithms. All you need to do is shake the phone – it takes a screenshot and fills in the required fields, so further manual routine is minimal. We’ll definitely try this one out, as well as some other solutions that made my shortlist.

Of those you spoke with – what were the main fields of interest and pains?

Pavlina: I think many startups visited the event to help their product grow in the first place. Early stage or established, they were looking for interested clients and investors, aiming to stabilize the business and dedicate more time to operations like quality assurance.

Tetiana: Good point, Pavlina. I’ve also noticed that people tend to favor offers that have AI solutions in them. Whether you have a platform with AI-powered features or a service that actively utilizes such platforms, this approach gives you a higher ground. So we need to make sure we’re one step ahead.

What was the general sentiment regarding test automation?

Pavlina: Although we didn’t talk about it in too much detail, my main observation was that automation is widely utilized for IoT solutions.

One of the stages

What was your biggest missed opportunity at the event?

Pavlina: One of my biggest regrets was missing out on the 3D-printed plant-based meat alternative. I’d really love to give it a taste, but with a conference this massive, some things just slip through. Unfortunately, I only found out about the booth after the event was over.

Tetiana: Well, I almost missed the entire event… First day of the conference, and I only got access to my ticket that morning. I open it in the taxi – only to see our operations coordinator’s face instead of mine. Instant panic. No chance of sneaking through since the event uses 3D facial verification, and we don’t exactly look alike. It took an hour of back-and-forth with support to swap the photo, but at least I finally got in – just a little shaken and with one of the meetings postponed to the next day.

What’s the key takeaway or insight you’re left with after MWC 2025?

Pavlina: Tech world is developing so rapidly, and I think we don’t have the right to lag behind. Having processed my thoughts on the event, I’m really impressed by how far AI has come. Thanks to its efficiency and ease of integration, AI has become an integral part of mobile technology, and it already drives a lot of changes.

Tetiana: Two words – Artificial Intelligence.

Bonus round with Anton: Let’s get More Technical

How do you think the new technologies from the event will impact testing processes in the coming years?

There is a growing number of products that interconnect devices within shared networks, allowing multiple types of hardware to operate together seamlessly. This will drive a higher demand for compatibility testing and the automation of these processes. Test labs will become increasingly essential. Additionally, there is a surge in software development for wearables, which will require extensive integration testing. These are the key areas where we expect demand to rise.

Which ideas or solutions from MWC will have the biggest impact on our testing services?

AI-powered features in products will have a major influence on our testing services. Many competitors still lack experience in testing AI integrations, which gives us an edge – we already have the competency. Moreover, we are actively integrating AI into our own services and running pilot projects to optimize its use. So far, we’ve seen a productivity boost of up to 29% in basic tasks across our already high-performing teams.
