They will not actually perform testing itself, for example, load testing or white-box testing. No, it is not helper’s obligation. However, the users will assist in product checking.
The helpers may make the incredible suggestions and have unbelievable ideas. Their behavior is not limited by any rules and restrictions. But the users will help with testing only if they are motivated and interested in the process. Here are some recommendations which help to reach this aim.
How to Use Gamification in Testing?
- A tester should present the game and its mission in an interesting way. The helpers should be intrigued by the game. A dull and boring idea of the game told in a monotonous voice will not stir any interest.
- The rules should be clarified. If there are no rules, then it also should be explained.
- It is better if a tester presents the testing process in a form of competition. It will motivate the helpers. But be careful – testing should not become a ‘cruel war’.
- Any effort should be rewarded. It can be snacks or drinks. Everything depends on tester’s imagination.
