How to Build a User Story like a Pro?

As everyone knows, software testing and mobile testing go hand in hand with product management in general and user stories in particular.

The efficiency of testing services may suffer from poor user stories. If a software testing company strictly insists on using only the classic “As a…” pattern for user stories, it may cause undesirable consequences. Sometimes this pattern is just not good enough for a particular situation. In that case, the best solution is to give up on the pattern and formulate a user story in your own way. Make sure that it’s brief, conceptual and indeed written in a story form. Try to show others how your user story correlates with the existing functionality of a product.

What Else Should Be Included into a User Story?

  • Explanation of the purpose
  • Mockups
  • Use cases
  • Technical details for developers and testers
  • Exceptions

If the motive of a user story is clearly explained, the mockups, drafts and sketches are attached, the informative use cases are provided, then there is a high chance that the idea will be understood. In order for it to be executed properly, explain technical highlights of a user story to development and testing teams. Then, one needs to specify possible exceptions that should be taken into account by technical experts. If all this is done, one should expect a positive outcome.

Remember that good user stories often result in a high-quality product and effective manual testing and automated testing.
