While writing a resume for a software testing company one should read requirements carefully. It’s better to put all the required information on the first page, as a recruiter won’t read all the resumes; he or she will scan just the main points of it.
It’s impossible to read carefully all the resumes that come for every position, as sometimes the number of them can be more than a hundred.
The Main Sections in the Resume:
- Personal details such as name, address, e-mail, phone number, etc. should be put at the top.
- Career objective in a few lines should go right after the details.
- Education is better to present in reverse date order.
- The certificates proving that he or she attended various courses for testers.
- Experience in software testing or any other field in case of changing of the career path.
- Achievements, different rewards, articles.
- Hobbies and interests.
Sometimes a question rises how to describe experience in mobile application testing, desktop testing and web site testing. It is wise to give brief information about the executed projects.
Tips on How to Describe a Project in the Resume:
- write the project name;
- mention the clients’ names, but that’s not necessary;
- tell about the project in no more than 3 sentences;
- indicate the language of the tested application, mention what types of testing were performed;
- in case of automated testing one should tell about the tools that were used;
- put the number of people that were working on the project;
- tell what you’ve done for this project.
