Proper control is among the key factors of success of any process. Web site testing, desktop testing and mobile application testing should also be properly controlled.

Good control of a testing process involves regular review of the test plan, test cases, and various estimates.

It is Wise to Estimate:

  • Error reports, test results and progress. Experts in manual and automated testing recommend elaborating criteria based on which quality of the reports is evaluated; poorly written error reports complicate correcting the defects and upset the development team.
  • Test engineers’ skills and knowledge. Quality of security testing, performance testing, usability testing, functional testing and other testing types depends on skills and knowledge of the testers. Applications are always evolving and testers should constantly learn something new. It is important to verify testers’ knowledge and skills in order to make sure that they are qualified enough.

Effectiveness of a testing process also depends on well thought out training of the new team members. The managers should determine who is responsible for the training and familiarizing the newcomers with the project. It is necessary to determine what new members should learn, how long the training will last, how to evaluate knowledge of the new team members after finishing the training.
