Software testing undergoes many stages, modifications, additions, and so on during its execution. Performing regression testing, the specialists always hope for the absence of bugs, as well as of the appearance of the new ones after any system modifications.

However, the testing result is very difficult to manage because of certain factors. It is extremely important before proceeding to the testing process, to define the quantity of the available regression tests, what their coverage is, and its value.

QA company may face the problem of the irrelevant tests, fulfilled during regression check by testers. Such tests simply repeat each other in certain expressions and take much time. That is why one should always manage the value and the volume of the applied tests.

Rules for the Correct Regression Testing Performance:

  • The tests must refer the product final goal and ensure the in-depth perception of the software permanent function.
  • The tests must specify the requirement coverage in order in order for a tester to estimate the real value.
  • The tests must be fulfilled at the appropriate time as their execution makes sense only during the time of release.
  • The tests must be understandable with the view of the requirement under test.
  • Each test must include the item of the standard value, estimated at the certain time (before, during its running or supporting).

Whether a tester conducts manual testing or automated testing, he should remember that he will execute regression tests all the way and they must be well-designed, relevant and clear.
